Surgery
Surgery is often suggested as a cure for pelvic floor dysfunction. This is a last resort in the vast majority of cases and pelvic floor education and strengthening should ideally come first.
Women need to take responsibility and be proactive in maintaining their pelvic floor.
Even if surgery is undertaken, this will not strengthen pelvic floor muscles. This is something women must do themselves to retain any surgical advantage.
To achieve maximum strength and control they will benefit from their own personal pelvic floor strengthening programme.
